Dim Sum

As part of our adoption day celebration, we took Eva up to Chinatown in Winnepeg just for lunch. We enjoyed our Dim Sum lunch... the waitresses all fawned over Eva. They told us that she is very beautiful. We already knew that.

pictures

Eva can write her initials. Her "E's" still have extra lines, but I think she does pretty good for just having turned 3.

I made this guitar for Eva... she absolutely loved it. She called it her "Better guitar."

Time is flying

I thought I'd have more time to post this summer, but I've been super busy with my summer classes and re-painting the basement. Ugh!!!

Eva spent the evening tonight pouring over catalogues and figuring out what she wants me to buy her. It's really cute. Friday, she asked me what I was doing to the house and I told her "I'm making it pretty." She looked at me, the mess, back at me and replied, "No you not." The little stinker.

I'll may not have time to write a lot, but I will post some pictures.

Happy Adoption Day

Today is the 2 year anniversary of the first day I met Eva. There is a strange reality on this day of a mixture of "I can't believe 2 years has gone by already" with "It's only been 2 years, it seems like 20." I am loving being a mommy to Eva. It is no longer that I love being a mom, but that I love being Eva's mom.

Since coming back from the Cousins, I've been really busy getting things in order that haven't been done around the house... setting up bills and payments that I ignored at the end of the semester, cleaning, and running lots of errands. Plus, I am teaching 2 classes this summer. The lectures are online, but it still adds up to a lot of time.

Eva has very much missed the cousins. In the meantime I am learning all kinds of cool new things from her. Yesterday, she taught me how to walk like a boy. "I a boy mommy, I show you how to walk like a boy." It involves a rather stiff knee and a big step. She is still insisting that she is a boy and has actually started refusing to wear pink. She also has some kind of obsession with wanting everything like mommy has it. I don't dare eat something different than her, as soon as she sees it's different she refuses to eat hers and only wants mine. She wants to get her hair cut short like me, will only wear the type of shoes I wear (sandles or tennis shoes) on the day that I wear them, and acts like someone has cut of a limb if I dare go or do something without her. She did tell me yesterday that she wanted to go to China, which I thought was great. Also, she's been randomly and sporadically speaking Chinese to me. Actual correct terms. Some I know and some I don't ... she tells me what it means, but I don't know if I trust her completely or not. It sounds like an actual word. I think she has talent in the verbal arena of her mind.

We've been playing hide and seek a lot. She always hides in the same spot though, so it gets boring when she's not the seeker. Eva's also been singing all the time, and she makes up songs if she doesn't feel like singing one she knows. And, nap times are currently in flux at our house. Personally, I'd rather take a nap than she would.

In any case, It's been a good two years and I am constantly amazed at my little sweetheart. Here's to hoping I get more sleep in the next two years. Oh...and that Eva is sleeping on her own.
