It is the Year of the Rat!
I've been busy with the start of the semester and haven't updated. Eva continues to exhibit age appropriate behavior. She challenges and tests constantly and Granny thinks it's funny.
Our dog passed away a few months ago, and the loss has triggered Eva's loss issues also. She asks me about the dog at least once a week. She's started thrasing and kicking in her sleep. Her eyes will be wide open and she talks in Chinese to us. But, I think it's like she's sleep walking. She's not aware of us at all. The only word we recognize is "Ma Ma" which is the same in both languages. We have no idea what's going on in her little brain, but figure she's processing things and so we're adjusting our lives to her, yet again.
She's enjoying pre-school and playing with the bigger kids a lot. They like to play pretend spiderman (Have I mentioned that Eva prefers to play with the boys?) and they always have Eva play the black spiderman... the bad one. She comes home showing us how she has learned to die and what it means to go to jail. I find it amusing that the older and bigger boys make the little girl be the bad guy... she can't be much of a challenge to catch. Although, she is getting much faster running and riding her bike. Her gross motor skills have improved a lot in the last month or so. She also keeps growing... she's in 4T pants now and 5T tops.
Eva's been helping me cook more. Last weekend, she pressed the buttons for me on the blender adn thought that was the best thing ever. We make things together and I let her put everything in the bowl and then stir it. It's amazing how much food can get on the floor when a 2 year old stirs.
Ni Hao Kai-Lan is supposed to start today on Nick Jr. David and I set up the Digital Recorder (TIVO) to record it for Eva. It'll be great to hear her speaking some Chinese while she's conscience, and it's not 2:00 a.m.
I'll try to update more frequently. I know I've forgotten some great Eva stories just because I haven't written them down. In the meantime, have a great New Years
